Shortly after midnight July 4, 2012 there was a fire in one classroom at Spring Hill School, resulting in damage to the first grade classroom, teaching materials and to PE equipment and storage space as well as water and smoke damage to adjoining classrooms. The renovation will be complete in late Autumn. Classes will start August 29th with grade first through fourth and the library in portable classrooms. Fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth will be in the regular classes which were no damaged by the fire. The kindergarten room will be the first classroom to be completely remodeled and ready to occupy on the first day of school.

The playing fields and life lab are being completely renovated. The play areas both have new Fibar Playground Surfacing.
